Abstract
Nessas notas procuro assinalar porque julgo que o Educação e Desenvolvimento Social no Brasil é um clássico da Sociologia da Educação entre nós. Além de exemplificar o rigor e a amplitude da investigação, muito bem expressos nas notas dos diferentes capítulos, Cunha oferece aos seus leitores um trabalho modelo de articulação empírico-teórica no campo. Nesse sentido, independente do caráter conjuntural da análise, seu trabalho do ponto de vista da investigação sociológica é fundamental na formação de novos pesquisadores.
