Abstract
En este artículo analizo significaciones construidas por diferentes actores sociales acerca de usos y regulaciones de la violencia letal en dos barrios de sectores populares de la ciudad de Santa Fe, Argentina. A partir de entrevistas en profundidad, investigación participante y relevamiento de registros oficiales y noticias periodísticas examino cómo la mayoría de estas muertes aparecen definidas y visibilizadas por agencias del Estado —principalmente la policial— y por medios locales de comunicación a través de la categoría de ajustes de cuentas. Además, indago cómo paradójicamente son definidas de una forma muy similar por los propios jóvenes protagonistas de esas situaciones. Finalmente, analizo cómo esas distintas significaciones de dichos usos y regulaciones inciden en su configuración más inmediata.
