Abstract
The title compound, C16H17ClO4, is a derivative of 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-one in which the root moiety forms a dihedral angle of 49.36 (5)° with the pendent chlorobenzene ring. The crystal structure features weak methyl-C—H...O(ring carbonyl) contacts, leading to an R22(12) ring motif, and benzene-C—H...O(ester) interactions, leading to a supramolecular chain along the b axis, to form a three-dimensional network.
