Abstract
The functioning of small and medium sized enterprises is made difficult by the need to constantly overcome many barriers, which can be classified, among others, as internal or external barriers. In this article, the point of view is presented that the implementation of value based management can reduce some of them. Connected with the concept of value based management is the necessity of planning and a concentration on cash flow management and this should, among other things, result in the improved use of resources and easier access to extra capital irrespective of the size of the enterprise and the scale of its activities.
