Abstract
Abstract Myths occupy a privileged place in Freud’s thought: the myths that he analyses, those that he uses, and those that he invents. This article reflects on the presence of myths in Sigmund Freud’s corpus, with a threefold purpose: a) to contribute to the understanding and accurate evaluation of myth; b) to point out its relevance for (and in) psychoanalysis; and c) to extract the consequences that derive from Freud’s reflections on myth, with an eye on the never-ending question for what concerns the human condition. Keywords: history, identity, ideology, memory, myth.
