Abstract
Audio psycho phonology is a technique initiated by Prof. A.A. Tomatis. According to his theory the ear is not soley an instrument for hearing and listening, but primarily an apparatus intended to affect a cortical charge in terms of electrical potential. Sound is transformed into nervous influx by the cilifum cells of the cochleo-vestibular apparatus. The charge of energy obtained from the influx of nervous impulses reaches the cortex, which then distributes it through the body with the view to tuning up the whole system, and imparting greater dynamism to the human being. This does not imply that the condition of mental retardation can be cured or revised. It suggests that certain barriers can be overcome and thus the mentally retarded can function at his optimal level.
