Abstract
Los grandes avances tecnológicos en tomografía computada, han hecho posible la evaluación de estructuras pequeñas y móviles como las arterias coronarias y del resto del corazón. La tomografía computada cardíaca (TCC) aporta información anatómica y funcional, pudiendo diagnosticar patología congénita y adquirida.
La mayor indicación sigue siendo la detección y cuantificación de ateromatosis coronaria. Actualmente es posible realizar los estudios con baja dosis de radiación y de contraste endovenoso, lo que disminuye las complicaciones y contraindicaciones del examen.
