Abstract
This text aims at presenting a report from an observation of a meeting of Brazilian “people’s lawyers” in the beginning of the 2000s. Although it is an isolated, exploratory and dated report, we believe its publication can contribute to others studies on the same subject, because it is a rich source of information about a still understudied subject. Moreover, it provides data on this kind of political lawyering in a moment of change in the relationships between these professionals and the State, the law, governmental branches and the judicial system. At the end of the text, the data is analyzed in view of the literature on lawyers and politics, in order to present explanations and hypothesis to be developed about contemporary “people’s lawyering” in Brazil.
