Abstract

A linguística aplicada (LA) brasileira alcançou sua idade adulta. Tomando a metade final da década de 1980 como o período em que a LA começa a ganhar espaço institucional no país, revisito a orientação pragmática e transdisciplinar desse campo tal como delineada em Cavalcanti (1986) e aponto quatro truísmos sedimentados na idade adulta da LA: (1) evidência empírica monolítica, (2) ideologias artefatuais de linguagem, (3) parco diálogo com modelos reflexivos de usuários e (4) concentração do trabalho em áreas em vez de problemas são modos de encaminhar a LA que, se não atingem todo o campo, impedem o trabalho transdisciplinar de investigação de problemas da sociedade e da vida humana envolvidos com o uso da linguagem. Em face desses truísmos, o artigo propõe quatro desafios para a vida adulta da LA.

بلغت اللسانيات التطبيقية (LA) في البرازيل مرحلة النضج. وانطلاقاً من النصف الثاني من ثمانينيات القرن العشرين بوصفه الفترة التي بدأت فيها اللسانيات التطبيقية باكتساب مكانة مؤسسية في البلاد، أعيد النظر في التوجه التداولي والعابر للتخصصات لهذا الحقل وفقاً لما رسمه كافالكانتي (1986)، وأشير إلى أربع مسلّمات بديهية ترسخت في مرحلة نضج اللسانيات التطبيقية: (1) الأدلة التجريبية الأحادية، (2) والأيديولوجيات المصنوعية للغة، (3) وشح الحوار مع النماذج التأملية للمستخدمين، (4) وتركيز العمل على المجالات بدلاً من المشكلات؛ وهي طرائق في توجيه اللسانيات التطبيقية تعيق—وإن كانت لا تشمل الحقل بأسره—العمل العابر للتخصصات في استقصاء قضايا المجتمع والحياة الإنسانية المرتبطة باستخدام اللغة. وفي مواجهة هذه المسلّمات، يقترح المقال أربعة تحديات تواجه مرحلة نضج اللسانيات التطبيقية.
