Abstract
O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de avaliar a concentração de íon nitrato em 13 poços tubulares que abastecem o bairro de Nova Parnamirim. Nesse contexto, os resultados analisados demonstram que no ano de 2012 cerca de 38,0% dos poços tubulares apresentaram valores de íon nitrato acima do permitido pela legislação brasileira vigente (10,0 mg.L-1 NO3-N). Os dados indicam que esses valores elevados podem está relacionado à falta de um sistema de esgotamento sanitário e do rápido desenvolvimento e crescimento populacional que o bairro sofreu nos últimos anos.
