Abstract
La nación, reflexionaba Charles Tilly hace ya tres décadas, pesa significativamente en el quehacer científico social, porque estructura procesos de amplia envergadura a las fronteras territoriales decimonónicas.[1] El problema que anima la investigación de Santamaría-Delgado transita derroteros epistemológicos heredados del conocimiento científico social basados en campos nacionales, aunque sobrepone la importancia de la región y la presencia inocultable de productos transnacionales. Escrito y pensado desde saberes recientemente acogidos por la disciplina histórica, tales como musicología, etnomusicología y estudios culturales, y animados por perspectivas poscoloniales latinoamericanas, desde donde la escritora reflexiona procesos de modernidad,[2] el texto construye escenarios minúsculos, donde acaecen hábitos de escucha, relacionados con procesos mayúsculos derivados de la recepción, circulación y usos sociales otorgados a la música.
