Abstract
This article traces the path trailed by Worker’s Party to the Presidency of Brazil. Briefly, it describes how the first years of PT administration, which carried out the main policies implemented during the previous government, are related to a broader context characterized by the fading of class ideals, populism, increasing power of financial capital, nationalization of political parties and politics and privatization of economy and life.
