Abstract
Carl Ransom Rogers (1902-1987) foi um famoso psicólogo clínico e psicoterapeuta norteamericano que exerceu a sua actividade, quer docente, quer profissional, nessas mesmas áreas e ainda na área do aconselhamento. A notoriedade e reputação, bem como o reconhecimento académico e público de que gozou, sobretudo a partir da década de 40, nos Estados Unidos, e que o tornaram conhecido, prendem-se com a nova abordagem que introduziu e aplicou no campo da psicoterapia e a que chamou Terapia Centrada no Cliente – Client Centered Therapy – ou Abordagem Centrada na Pessoa, e explicam que alguns autores o tenham considerado "o mais influente psicólogo e psicoterapeuta da história
americana".
