Abstract
O objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar o Programa Trilhas Potiguares, desenvolvido pela Pró-Reitoria de Extensão (PROEX) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, no período 1996-1999. Discutem-se as direções e os resultados do Programa a partir de uma concepção da extensão como um espaço contraditório, de ratificação de práticas de dominação e construção da hegemonia burguesa, mas também com forma de resistência e veiculação de outra visão de mundo, informada pela temática da cidadania e da democracia política e social.
