Abstract
In the present text we identify some of the main properties of a set of propositions about the sociological relations that can be established between the democratic processes and citizenship. We specifically highlight the properties that can be conceptualized in the frame of a liberal model and the ones that can be red in the light of a republican model. Given the description that is done, we try to sketch some of the main obstacles (that are at the same time challenges) to the development of democracy and citizenship
