Abstract

Makin meluasnya penggunaan tanaman mahkota dewa oleh masyarakat pada berbagai penyakit degeneratif perlu didukung dengan data keamanan penggunaannya. Salah satu uji keamanan adalah dengan memeriksa sifat mutagenitas ekstrak etanol 70% buah mahkota dewa, berdasarkan metode mutasi balik "AMES" menggunakan lima galur bakteri mutan yaitu: Salmonella typhimurium TA 98, TA 100, TA 1535, TA 1537 dan Escherechia coli WP2 urvA dengan dan tanpa activator metabolit S-9. Hasil uji memperlihatkan ekstrak mahkota dewa tidak mengindikasikan efek mutagenik.
