<span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;Calibri&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; font-size: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: PT-BR; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;" lang="PT-BR">Este ensaio pretende desenvolver um entendimento sobre as rela&ccedil;&otilde;es mut&aacute;veis entre Rei, Lei e Parlamento na Inglaterra, entre a &ldquo;Grande Mat&eacute;ria&rdquo; (1532-1535) de Henrique VIII e a Guerra Civil Inglesa (meados do s&eacute;culo XVII), que as situe adequadamente nos caracteres institucionais (pr&aacute;ticos e doutrinais) do Antigo Regime, rompendo com a chave de leitura da historiografia liberal que, desde o s&eacute;culo XIX, tende a essencializar uma esp&eacute;cie de distin&ccedil;&atilde;o hist&oacute;rica entre Inglaterra e Fran&ccedil;a, como se fossem prot&oacute;tipos, respectivamente, de &ldquo;contratualismo&rdquo; e &ldquo;absolutismo&rdquo;.</span>
