Abstract
RESUMEN: En el artículo se analiza a la ciudad antigua clásica desde el punto de vista económico, tratando de superar el marco planteado por el debate abierto entre primitivistas y modernistas. Se intenta estudiar la economía de la ciudad en tanto economía política que explica el conjunto de las relaciones sociales de la ciudad-estado, lo que es significativamente diferente del desarrollo de relaciones mercantiles pensadas como «economía» o «esfera económica independiente». Se trata de destacar que las relaciones mercantiles tienen un lugar en la economía política de la ciudad-estado en tanto son fundamentalmente la expresión de relaciones de circulación y distribución de la renta agraria precapitalista.
ABSTRACT: In this article the ancient classic city is analyzed from the economic point of view, trying to overcome the debate opened between primitivists and modernists. The economy of the city tries to be studied meanwhile political economy that explains the set of the social relations of the city-state, which is significantly different from the development of mercantile relations thought as «economy» or «economic independent sphere». It reinforces the idea that the mercantile relations have a place in the political economy of the city-state meanwhile they are fundamentally the expression of relations of circulation and distribution of the agrarian precapitalist revenue.
