Abstract
Este artigo analisa a posição dos clíticos de 2ª pessoa do singular na escrita popular do início do século XX. Busca-se identificar quais são os fatores linguísticos que influenciam a realização da próclise/ênclise. Por hipótese, acredita-se que fatores discursivos atuam na realização da ênclise, pois esta não é a posição “natural” para o clítico no Português Brasileiro. Como aporte teórico-metodológico, adotam-se os pressupostos da Sociolinguística Histórica e das Tradições Discursivas. Como corpus de análise, utiliza-se um conjunto de cartas amorosas escritas por um casal de noivos na década de 1930.
