Abstract
Este estudo visa descrever a variação do verbo em Pykobjê, lingua Timbira, família Jê, tronco Macro-Jê. Tal variação ocorre em grande parte dos verbos ativos, tanto transitivos quanto intransitivos, encontrados na lingua. Esse fenômeno é também relatado em outras línguas da família Jê - Krahô (SOUZA, 1997), Panará (DOURADO, 2001), Canela-Krahô (POPJES; POPJES, 1986), Xerente (WIESEMANN, 1986), Mdbengokrê (SALANOVA, 2001; REIS SILVA; SALANOVA, 2000), Parkatejê (FERREIRA, 2003) e Suyá (SANTOS, 2002) - e comumente as formas decorrentes são chamadas de longa e breve ou não-finita e finita. Além dessa variação, que consiste, basicamente, no Pykobjê, da eliminação de uma consoante no final do verbo, outras alternâncias são relatadas também na raiz de alguns verbos. Neste trabalho, serão descritas essas variações morfofonológicas no Pykobjê e analisadas através de uma comparação com as ocorrências do mesmo fenômeno em outras línguas Jê.
