Abstract
Las ciudades al sur del gran Río Bío-Bío nacen de dos períodos fundacionales, dos tiempos fecundos que hoy día ya son leyenda: El primer período corresponde al siglo XVI, en que el conquistador español lucha por asentar sus dominios. El segundo período corresponde al siglo XIX, en que ya bien consolidada la República, vuelven a surgir pueblos y ciudades en los verdes paisajes del sur.
