Abstract
En este artículo, se estudia la influencia que ha tenido la llamada Escuela liberal austríaca o Escuela de Viena la integración europea posterior a la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Para ello, se analizarán dos de los momentos clave de dicho proceso. En primer lugar, se analizará la creación de las primeras organizaciones de integración europea, el peso que tuvo la ideología en su configuración y la propuesta que F. A Hayek formuló para la Europa de posguerra: la Federación interestatal de Estados. En segundo lugar, se estudiará la reacción política y académica de la Escuela liberal Austríaca frente a uno de los hechos que cambió la naturaleza de la integración europea: las crisis monetarias europeas de los años setenta y ochenta.
