Abstract
In El Torito de los Muchachos, and from the title itself, there is a display of animal figures, which are shown sustained in the concept of enemy, with strong political connotations within the newspaper's context of publication. At the same time, the use of animalization, traditionally oriented to the common people, is peculiarly applied from a commoner and federal voice to a subject who represents civilization and the city, the unitario. The newspaper stages a public arena in its pages, keeping in mind a particular audience, held by oral readings. In a context of mergers and exchanges between literature and the periodical press, this paper proposes a reading for this gauchesque newspaper
