Abstract
Este trabajo relee La región más transparente (1958), la clásica novela de Carlos Fuentes, centrándose en determinados objetos, los cuadros que cuelgan de las paredes, y su función en la trama, y vincula el tema con la visión del país que ofrece el autor implícito en la novela. Amanera de comparación, se evocan dos novelas anteriores: Los de abajo (1915), de Mariano Azuela y El luto humano (1943) de José Revueltas.   Abstract   This paper revisits La región más transparente (1958), the classic Carlos Fuentes’ novel. Reading focuses on certain objects, paintings hanged in the walls, and their role in the plot. The topic is linked with the implicit vision of Mexico in Fuentes’ masterpiece. As a comparison, two former Mexican novels are mentioned: Los de abajo (1915), by Mariano Azuela and El luto humano (1943) by José Revueltas.
