Abstract
O artigo busca aproximar a proposta metodológica de Nina Rodrigues e E. B. Tylor para o estudo das religiões. Para tanto, apresenta Nina Rodrigues (1962-1906) e suas obras sobre as religiões afro-brasileiras; discute a proposta metodológica de E. B. Tylor para pensar religiões; indica as apropriações feitas por Nina Rodrigues dos conceitos de animismo e fetichismo; e busca refletir as aproximações e os processos de apropriação e representação entre os autores. As fontes utilizadas são O animismo fetichista dos negros bahianos (1935) e Os africanos no Brasil (1982) de Nina Rodrigues e Primitive Culture (1920, 1903) de E. B.  Tylor. Parte-se da História Cultural, por meio de Michel de Certeau e Roger Chartier, por entender que esta tem como principal objeto, identificar o modo como em diferentes lugares e momentos uma determinada realidade social é construída, pensada e dada a ler.
