Abstract
This work analyses the dynamics of the environmental licensing process in Macaé, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, using data from Rio de Janeiro’s State Environmental Agency. The case studied previously given installation and operation licenses, classifying activities into eleven categories: (i) onshore petroleum industry related activities; (ii) service stations; (iii) mineral extraction; (iv) offshore lots; (v) waste treatment systems; (vi) air transportation; (vii) temporary transportation and storage of dangerous waste; (viii) energy generation; (x) gas bottling; e (xi) sanitary landfills. Some proposals on management strategies that allow impact interaction assessment are made.
