Abstract
Com o objetivo de compreender na prática a participação das famílias na instituição e qual o significado para elas, Fonseca realizou no Núcleo de Educação Infantil (NEI) Canto da Lagoa, no período de 1998 a 2000, sua pesquisa de mestrado. Em seu trabalho FONSECA abrange os seguintes tópicos: "Educação Infantil: avanços e ambigüidades das políticas nacionais", "A origem do tema de pesquisa: questões teórico-metodológicas", "O NEI - Canto da Lagoa e suas inserções no contexto local", "Possibilidades e limites das modalidades de participação coletivas".
