Abstract
O objetivo do trabalho foi apresentar diretrizes para elaboração de um Plano Municipal de Gestão Integrada de Resíduos Sólidos (PMGIRS). As diretrizes abrangem as fases de introdução, diagnóstico, prognóstico, elaboração de programas, projetos e ações, avaliação, responsabilidades de implementação e operacionalização. O PMGIRS visa estabelecer uma nova dinâmica às políticas municipais destinadas aos resíduos sólidos, propondo uma atuação integrada entre os serviços prestados à população, devendo orientar as ações dos titulares na implementação de uma política municipal de gestão de resíduos sólidos, de forma contínua, buscando efetividade e aplicação real dos programas e ações.
