Abstract
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal, desde julio del 2008 hasta junio del 2009, de 53 ancianos del consultorio médico No. 12 de tipo 1, perteneciente al Policlínico Universitario "Municipal" del municipio de Santiago de Cuba, a fin de evaluar su estado nutricional. En la casuística sobresalieron los malos hábitos alimentarios y las dietas tendientes a producir obesidad. Hubo predominio de los pacientes malnutridos por exceso y la mayoría presentaba afecciones o manifestaciones clínicas, o ambas, sugerentes de malnutrición.
A descriptive and cross-sectional study with 53 elderly assisted at the doctor's office number 12 type 1 from ¨Municipal¨ University Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba municipality was carried out from July, 2008 to June, 2009 in order to evaluate their nutritional status. In the case material, bad eating patterns and diets that tend to make people obese were relevant. Malnourished patients due to excess were predominant and the majority of them had clinical manifestations and/or affections, both suggesting malnutrition.
