Neste artigo fazemos uma análise do processo de adequação das denominações Congregação Cristã no Brasil (CCB) e Assembleia de Deus (AD) às contingencias da modernidade. Ambas as denominações, são do ramo pentecostal e chegaram ao Brasil no mesmo período, 1910 (CCB) e 1911(AD), apesar disso apresentam formas diferentes de lidar com temas semelhantes no interior do universo pentecostal, como divulgação do evangelho, conversão, entre outros. O campo investigado é a cidade de Imperatriz, no Maranhão e a metodologia utilizada, foi incursão a campo para observação dos ritos, análise dos discursos dos atores, análise bibliográfica e dados coletados em entrevistas. Como resultado, apresentamos que as formas de adequação dessas igrejas frente à sociedade vigente não são homogêneas. Na Assembleia de Deus, as marcas de afirmação frente aos valores da modernidade são mais explícitas, modificando algumas de suas estruturas tradicionais. Em relação à Congregação Cristã no Brasil, há maior resistência quanto às modificações das estruturas tradicionais influenciadas pelas inovações características da modernidade. Há uma postura mais conservadora dessa denominação, que zela pela preservação dos hábitos e costumes mais tradicionais.     AN INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE PENTECOSTAL SECULARISATION FIELD: Christian Congregation of Brazil and Assembly of God in Imperatriz – MA   Abstract In this article we analyze the process of adequacy of the Christian Congregation denominations in Brazil (CCB) and Assembly of God (AD) to the contingencies of modernity. Both denominations are the Pentecostal branch and arrived in Brazil in the same period in 1910 (CCB) and 1911 (AD), yet have different ways of dealing with similar issues within the Pentecostal universe as spreading the gospel, conversion, among others. The field investigation is the city of Imperatriz in Maranhão and the methodology used was foray into the field to observe the rites, analyze the speeches of the actors, literature review and data collected in interviews. As a result we show that the forms of adequacy of these churches facing the current society are not homogeneous. In the Assembly of God, the statement marks compared to the values of modernity are more explicit, modifying some of their traditional structures. Regarding the Christian Congregation in Brazil, there is more resistance on the changes from traditional innovations influenced by the characteristics of modernity. There is a more conservative position in this denomination, which ensures the preservation of its habits and more traditional customs.
