Abstract
O artigo apresenta a situação atual de mulheres operárias   no México, com ênfase na cidade fronteiriça de Juárez, onde há uma incidência altíssima des assassinatos de mulheres. A maioria destas mulheres é torturada e estuprada antes de serem assassinadas. Apesar do fato da humilhação do homem pobre numa cultura que paulatinamente destrói o modelo familiar estável ser um fator para esta violência contra mulheres, a cultura machista é o maior fator parar a esta situação. O artigo traz algumas estatísticas e reflexões sobre o impacto destas mortes na família das vítimas, assim como em toda a sociedade. Abstract: the essay presents the current situation of factry workers in Mexico, with emphasis on the frontier city of Juárez, where there is a very high incidence of murder of women.  Most of these women are tortured and raped before they are killed. Although the humiliation of poor men in a culture that slowly destroys a stable family model is an important factor for violence against women, the machista culture is the biggest factor for this situation.  The article brings some statidstics and reflects on the impact of these deaths on the families of the victims, as well as on the whole society.
