Abstract
O estudo do Português como Língua Estrangeira acarreta uma série de dificuldades devido a variações importantes da estrutura gramatical em função da formalidade do uso. A estrutura do Português Padrão muitas vezes não representa a realidade do dia-a-dia brasileiro e insistir no uso tradicional da língua é, até certo ponto, confundir o aluno. Estabelece-se aqui uma proposta para reconhecimento e ensino da língua em duas modalidades: FORMAL e INFORMAL. Desta forma, o ensino distinguirá para certas lições as estruturas diferenciadas. Este trabalho apresentará exemplos onde esta estratificação resolve o que de outra forma poderia parecer um caos gramatical para o aluno que tem contato com a língua autêntica: o imperativo (venha/vem); o pronome/objeto direto (vejo-o/ vejo ele); mistura de formas de tratamento (Eu te amo. Você é a luz da minha vida...) e outros. Palavras-chave: Português – língua estrangeira; ensino; variações.
