Abstract
Within the context of the internal series Europaideen im 20. Jahrhundert, Annika Jücker thematised Richard N. Coudenhove-Kalergi’s pan-European concept for her lesson plan “Paneuropa“ – eine utopische Europaidee? The plan provides insight into an early 20th century European idea, as well as an interesting lesson approach to the historical development of Europe. Utilising diverse types of sources (caricature, speech, quote), the students of an advanced level course will be familiarised with the beginnings and problems of European unification. The plan is set out to develop a critical understanding of the nowadays taken-for-granted EU and to raise awareness of a possible European cultural consciousness.
