O Judaismo vive em diáspora, — em hebraico usa-se o têrmo golá, destêrro, — que abrange 19 séculos . Até há pouco tempo foi opinião cerrada, especialmente na dogmática cristã, que esta diáspora representava a decadência, com o judeu disperso por sua culpa, a existência judaica sem razão de ser .
