Abstract
This paper investigates some epistemological trends in Communication
Research as discussed at Compós’ Communication Epistemology Working
Group. It analyzes the abstracts and bibliography of 126 papers from 2001 to 2013. Results show that the main issue are the grounds of communication theories, followed by discussion of the area borders, the concept of ‘communication’, research questions concerning methods and objects, authors, case studies and interfaces with other areas. These findings, framed in a theoretical and historical background, suggests a tension between the richness of epistemological plurality and the risks of dispersion.
