Abstract
L’Ospedale Verdi di Villanova sull’Arda, voluto e finanziato dal maestro Giuseppe Verdi per la cura di persone ammalate e indigenti della campagna piacentina, rappresenta un caso interessante di filantropia sociale di fine Ottocento. Questo articolo illustra alcuni esempi di documenti storici (come lo Statuto e il Regolamento, le lettere, le delibere comunali ecc.) per ricostruire non solo le vicende interne dell’ospedale, ma anche l’evoluzione del sistema assistenziale italiano.
