Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the essential aspects of Vaz Ferreira´s political thought, wich has been less explored by analysts after his death, despite our great philosopher committed opinion with clairvoyant vision at a crucial time for the history of the Western world. Vaz Ferreira´s discarding of the great ideological systems in struggle for power; representing the opinion of Uruguay and their problems as unique cases on which all possible good faith had to be rehearsed, using reason and feeling superior, remains an ideal to considerer. To the philosopher the values on which Western Culture is built are first freedom, because that is what allows human progress in all dimensions, then equality, although both must always be present in our judgements about social problems
