Abstract
Há uma relação estreita entre a obra do poeta Castro Alves e a poesiados negros brasileiros, pela temática, bem como por seus apelosà oralidade. A necessidade de mobilização social gerou muitos poemaspróprios para a declamação. Deu-se uma identidade ideológica e,ao mesmo tempo, formal. A visão do mundo e o engajamento contra oracismo permitiram aos afro-descendentes criar uma poesia visceral que,no diálogo crítico com o Poeta dos Escravos, revela uma subjetividadesingular nascida da experiência viv ida. Luiz Gama, que escreveu suaobra a ntes de Castro Alves, Cruz e Sousa, Solano Trindade e os poetasco ntemporâneos Carlos de Assumpção, Oswaldo de Camargo e É leSemog são os autores escolhidos para esta aproximação textual, escritaem um estilo epistolar.
