Abstract
Foi feito um estudo sobre as inter-relações existentes entre a lactação, fertilidade e variáveis sócio-econômicas em uma amostra de mulheres do Distrito de São Paulo, Brasil. Constatou-se que o tempo de amamentação rana com a paridade, com a idade e a instrução da mulher e com o gasto mensal da família; e também existir relação entre o tempo de amamentação e o intervalo entre duas gestações subsequentes para as mulheres que não usam métodos anticoncepcionais.
A study on the existing Inter-relationship between lactation and fertility and their socio-economic variables was done on a sample of the S. Paulo district women. Breast feeding lasted according to the number of the births, age, level of education and family monthly expenses. A relationship between the feeding time and the interval between two subsequent pregnancies was also found in women who don't use birth control methods.
