Abstract
Num cenário social e cultural tão misto, variável e múltiplo, cada vez mais obras de cunho artístico releem, reinterpretam e retomam tropos humanísticos do passado. No que concerne aos estudos literários, tais relações, nunca unidirecionais, sempre dialéticas, retomam e reaproximam culturas e saberes. Quando pensamos na influência de textos do passado em obras literárias mais próximas de nós temporalmente, o texto bíblico se apresenta como fonte inesgotável de ideias, conceitos e histórias que insuflaram – até hoje – a mente de diferentes escritores. Essa influência do texto bíblico se dá tanto em autores “modernos”, como Franz Kafka, Herman Melville e José Saramago, quanto em autores clássicos, como Dante Alighieri, John Milton e Luiz de Camões. Este trabalho apresenta uma interpretação sobre o nome do personagem Daniel Abraão, baseada na cultura bíblica judaica. Sendo o protagonista do romance A Ferro e Fogo I: Tempo de Solidão, do sul-brasileiro Josué Guimarães, tal personagem é construído como um paradigma da esperança migratóriafrustrada representada pelo povo alemão no Brasil.
In such a mixed, changeable and multiple social and cultural scene, more and more artistic works reread, reinterpret and retake humanistic themes of the past. With regard to literary studies, such relations, which are never unidirectional and always dialectic, retake and reapproximate cultures and knowledges. When we think about the influence of texts of the past in literary compositions of our time, the Biblical text presents an inexhaustible source of ideas, concepts and histories that inspire, even today, the mind of different writers. This influence of Biblical text is present both in modern authors such as Franz Kafka, Herman Melville and Jose Saramago, and in classic authors like Dante Alighieri, John Milton and Luiz de Camões. This paper presents an interpretation of thename of the character Daniel Abraão based on Jewish Biblical culture. Being the protagonist of the novel A Ferro e Fogo I: Tempo de Solidão, by southern Brazilian author Josué Guimarães, such a character is constructed as a paradigm of the frustrated migratory hope represented by the German people in Brazil.
