Abstract
Omdat die huwelik deur God ingestel is, omdat die sonde die huwelik in al sy fasette aangetas het, omdat die Verlossingsgenade van Christus ook die huweliksakker oorspoel het, en omdat die huwelik deel vorm van die nuwe lewe in Christus, het die pastor ’n onvervangbare taak met die huwelikspastoraat. In die era van stryd tussen sekularisme en die christelike ideologie is dit nog meer noodsaaklik dat die pastor sy plek tussen die ander dissiplines wat met die huwelik werk, sal kry. C. W. Stewart het gesê: „The minister has something unique to offer as a marriage counsellor. He touches the marriage and the family at a particular place and in a particular way”.
