Abstract
O presente ensaio é uma reflexão sobre o suicídio em obras literárias. Num primeiro momento, se justificam os motivos de ser estudado tal assunto, tendo em vista uma perspectiva pessoal e filosófica, fazendo um contraponto ao senso comum. Após, mencionam-se algumas obras literárias em que os personagens se deparam com o suicídio, seja refletindo sobre a possibilidade de cometer tal ato, seja tentando fugir desse pensamento, adiando-o de alguma forma. A questão básica é se a literatura nos ajuda a responder se há sentido para a vida e se, caso a resposta for negativa, o suicídio seria a solução para o problema.
