Abstract
O presente artigo apresenta uma investigação, sobre as políticas e perspectivas da avaliação institucional hodiernamente e sua ênfase na Educação a Distância, modalidade que igualmente utiliza a avaliação institucional como um referencial/instrumento para a busca da qualidade. O objetivo deste trabalho é, portanto, contribuir para elucidação e aprofundamento da temática apresentada e provocar uma reflexão sobre o tema e motivar novos pesquisadores a continuar o debate. O estudo permitiu questionar a importância da avaliação institucional no contexto da Educação a Distância e seu papel como um indicador de qualidade para a modalidade. A pesquisa utilizou uma abordagem qualitativa, para alcançar seus objetivos. Como instrumento de pesquisa, foi adotado como procedimento metodológico o levantamento bibliográfico. Concluiu-se assim que, a avaliação institucional pode conceber um progresso na Educação, sobretudo na Educação a Distância potencializando o desenvolvendo de uma cultura pela busca da qualidade educacional.
