Abstract
No presente trabalho são apresentados os resultados de duas experiências com inseticidas, instaladas na Estação Experimental de Ribeirão Prêto, visando ao contrôle de pragas de feijão, cigarrinhas (Empoasca spp.) e ácaros tropicais (Hemitarsonemus latus Banks). A primeira experiência visava controlar as cigarrinhas. Por esta ocasião não havíamos ainda constatado a presença dos ácaros. O resultado desta primeira experiência, indicando como melhores tratamentos os inseticidas-acaricidas Diazinon e Endrín, e as citações bibliográficas da ocorrência do ácaro tropical em feijoeiro, fizeram com que se instalasse uma segunda experiência, agora prevendo a ocorrência dos citados ácaros. Foram usados dois inseticidas sistêmicos, Sistox e Metasistox, visando ácaros e cigarrinhas, e o DDT, apenas cigarrinhas. Procurava-se verificar qual das duas pragas tinha maior importância na redução da produção de feijão. O resultado em favor dos sistêmicos e a contagem do número de ácaros e cigarrinhas revelaram ser o ácaro trópico! a praga que deve receber maior atenção em experiências futuras.
Two spraying experiments were carried out at the Ribeirão Prêto Agr. Exp. Sta. aiming at the control of insect pests and mites that affect the bean crop. Endrim and Diazinon gave good insect and mite control and increased the yields significantly when compared with the controls in the first trial. In the second test the systemic pesticides, Sistox and Metasistox gave the best insect and mite control and the highest yields.
