Abstract
A partir de la construcción histórica de los tres modelos mencionados en el constitucionalismo latinoamericano por Roberto Gargarella, este trabajo explora el núcleo
distintivo de las propuestas de organización y ejercicio del poder de matriz radical (también llamada republicana), a través del pensamiento de José Gervasio Artigas, Francisco González Vigil, Manuel Murillo Toro y Francisco Bilbao. En la secuencia, el objetivo es señalar los mecanismos irreconciliables entre el modelo radical y el adoptado por la actual Constitución brasileña, con el fin de poner de relieve los cambios esenciales a la verticalización del régimen democrático con respecto a la organicidad constitucional.
