Abstract
KH Abdullah Gymnastiar and KH Jalaluddin Rakhmat are famously known as da’i in national level. Both were actively engaged in communicating and spreading Islam since 1980s.This article discusses content of speech delivered by those two figures. Applying rhetorical analysis, the research revealed that inclusive messages which assumed man as equal were dominantly played. Both da’i communicated messages focused on ethics, tolerance, and mutual understanding, not merely concentrates on Islamic jurisprudence (al fiqh). Such messages are considered ideal in Indonesia’s multiculturalism context, where people—no matter what their religions or ethnical origins are—should be able to embrace the essence of inclusive messages. KH Abdullah Gymnastiar dan KH Jalaluddin Rakhmat merupakan da’i nasional yang sangat terpandang di Indonesia. Keduanya telah terlibat aktif dalam mengomunikasikan dan menyebarkan ajaran Islam sejak tahun 1980an, dan dikelilingi oleh jamaahnya masing-masing. Artikel ini membahas isi dakwah yang disampaikan oleh para da’i tersebut. Dengan menerapkan metode analisis retorika, diperoleh kesimpualn bahwa inti dari pesan dakwah kedua da’i adalah pesan-pesan inklusif yang mengutamakan kesetaraan manusia. Kedua da’i pada dasarnya menyebarkan isi pesan yang sama, berfokus pada etika, toleransi, serta pemahaman timbal-balik yang setara. Pesan mereka tidak semata-mata menekankan pada hukum-hukum Islam. Pesan inklusif semacam ini ideal bagi Indonesia yang sangat multikultural.
