Nosso artigo tem como objetivo analisar a visão de Adam Smith sobre o papel da técnica na formação do mundo moderno. Em nosso entendimento há pelo menos cinco atitudes distintas em relação à técnica: a antiga, a romântica, a moderna, a marxista e a contemporânea. Nosso artigo mostrará a filiação de Adam Smith com a terceira.
