Abstract
Este trabajo es una presentación de un método de estudio: la construcción de modelos. Está basado fundamentalmente en los trabajos de los geógrafos ingleses, que han desarrollado ampliamente la geografía cuantitativa como lo demuestran el número de publicaciones al respecto. A pesar de que los modelos se empezaron a utilizar desde hace tiempo en geografía y en general en todas las ciencias, es últimamente cuando han despertado un gran interés en el campo de las ciencias sociales, llegando a convertirse en el lenguaje científico de moda.
