Abstract
Este artículo aborda la humorística de Macedonio Fernández, especialmente en sus Papeles de Recienvenido. Con la exploración de sus incertidumbres metafísicas y existenciales, por un lado, y de los objetivos de su proyecto estético, por otro, este ensayo intenta iluminar el lugar esencial del humor en la vida y la escritura de Macedonio; una noción del humor atada a profundas urgencias vitales y a la ambición metafísica de subvertir la realidad cotidiana, todo ello producto de su difícil convivencia junto al misterio. Esta concepción del humor ha dejado huellas indudablemente fértiles en toda la literatura del Cono Sur en
el siglo XX
