Abstract
Este artigo aborda o período da nossa história no qual houve um dos maiores investimentos em torno da figura de Santos Dumont: o primeiro governo de Getúlio Vargas. Na década de 1940, inúmeras políticas culturais foram desenvolvidas com a intenção de inserir definitivamente o inventor brasileiro no panteão dos heróis nacionais. O objetivo do presente artigo é justamente o de analisar uma delas com mais profundidade: a biografia Santos Dumont para crianças, publicada em 1942 na coleção “Biblioteca Pátria”.
